Raising Organization Effective & Efficiency with Digital Signage System

Tzu Chi Foundation, founded in 1966, is one of largest Taiwanese non-profit organizations on the island. The foundation has been contributing to better social and community services, medical care, education and humanism in Taiwan for nearly 40 years. Today, Tzu Chi has become an international organization with over 5 million supporters, over 30,000 certified commissioners around the globe, and branch foundations in over 38 countries. In order to deliver the foundation’s mission and spirits, the Tzu Chi Foundation used PCs to play videos, and to display event pictures and posters. However, the foundation’s MIS staff found the PCs to be unstable, with huge power consumption problems. Content central management and playback performance were also big issues for foundation marketing staff. In addition, considering the problem of consistent information deployment and live-update capabilities to worldwide branch locations, the Tzu Chi Foundation was in need of a global network-enabled system to control all its digital signage requirements.
Solution
Along with optimal power efficiency, Advantech’s basic digital signage solution uses a RISC-based architecture to ensure greater system stability and reliability. Fanless structure and thermal design enhances its operational stability. This system is vastly different from the previous PC structure Tzu Chi Foundation had adopted. In contrast with a commercial PC’s size, the compact digital signage player saves Tzu Chi Foundation time and money by reducing installation time, and simplifying cabling requirements. Advantech’s basic digital signage system provides content management and play list scheduling through a Linux-based management signage software application: Manager Express. Live content can be scheduled and deployed to all displays via the network. It has become very convenient for Tzu Chi Foundation to announce news and information to all its worldwide branch foundations in real time. Advantech basic digital signage systems support full HD images and video, and are able to play all high resolution photos and video content designed by the Tzu Chi Foundation team.

Advantech’s basic digital signage systems have replaced all PC-based digital signage systems at the Tzu Chi Foundation. They have solved the previous instability issues and reduced power consumption. The MIS staff at the Tzu Chi Foundation is now able to check all signage players’ system status online, and management staff can edit content and assign tasks to players worldwide through the central management system.
