Optical bonding is the use of transparent adhesive to affix two optical materials to one another on the top surface of an LCD thus gives additional strength, clarity and durability to the LCD. It can be used on many display designs utilizing displays, cover plates, touch screens or any combination of the three.
Optical bonding eliminates the air gap between the cover glass and the LCD, thus reducing two reflective surfaces. The total reflection is under 0.2%, therefore improves the LCD’s contrast ratio. After optical bonding with low reflection glass or touch screen, the LCD viewability in bright ambient light will be enhanced and also the ruggedness can be improved because of increased front surface protection.
