Overview
Medical imaging technology involves the creation, display, and interpretation of medical images for clinical purposes. Comprehensive instrumentation and software technology are required to create and process advanced medical images of diagnostic quality. Additionally, there is a need for high-quality image display products for x-ray, ultrasound, surgery monitoring systems, and endoscope visualization, as well as a variety of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems, (PACS) and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) applications.

Applications
PictureArchiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
PACS offer these advantages:
- The power to view images, and transfer and receive data at diagnostic, reporting, consultation and remote workstations.
- The ability to archive to magnetic or other optional media for short or long term storage.
- LAN or WAN connectivity as well as communication capability.
- System integration that includes modality interfaces and gateway connectivity to healthcare and departmental information systems using one integrated system.
